It’s the same mentality behind statements like, “I don’t mean to offend...” don’t even finish the sentence, just shut the hell up.

The other one (also made fun of in an episode of RCR) is, “Just sayin’.” Yeah that right, you just said that pile of horseshit that came out of your mouth, that’s the fucking problem.

The “article” about Jeremy Clarkson’s “article” (which was amusingly hidden behind a paywall, so I doubt many had read) was a total clusterfuck. Holy fuck.

I really hope Oppo doesn't change because I don't feel like I can comment anywhere else on the internet anymore without feeling disgusted in myself and everyone else.

Exactly, take ownership of your words, and if this is a major concern, then THINK before you speak. I wish people would follow that old saying about it being better to remain silent and appear dumb than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. People are removing all doubt too often these days.

For the sake of transparency, I drop that line when I do think something is funny, even if it’s not really funny to others. Perhaps the difference is that I stand behind what I think is funny.

i.e. I think it’s funny that car enthusiasts like to bitch about not getting enthusiast oriented models and then when an enthusiast model finally comes out, that they just bitch about it anyway.

Others might not find that so funny, but it amuses me.

Yeah, “I don’t mean to offend” is basically saying “Yeah, this is probably offensive, but I’m saying it anyway” although with the latter at least you’re acknowledging it.
